Just got back from the Newport Jazz Festival. The whole festival was great. I especially liked: Joshua Redman - who, with his Double Trio, was perhaps even better than when we saw them in Boston; James Carter - who rocks; Hiromi who has a great fusion of sounds; and Rudresh Mahanthappa’s Indo-Pak Coalition who also have a great fusion of sounds and a very different technique than your typical jazz trio.
